Afterschool America leads a homeschool co-op for North Texas families. We meet weekly at a partner church in Wise County for classes, parent connection and fellowship — plus near-weekly field trips across Dallas–Fort Worth.
Our co-op is currently full and running a waiting list — new families are added as spots and partner sites open.
What to Know
Homeschooling in Texas, plainly.
Texas law is simple
Texas courts treat a homeschool as a private school. There's no state registration, no state testing and no approval process — you teach a bona fide curriculum in visual form (books, workbooks, screens) covering reading, spelling, grammar, math and good citizenship.
Withdrawing from public school
If your child is currently enrolled, send the district a written letter of withdrawal stating you're homeschooling. Keep a dated copy. That letter is what closes out attendance obligations.
Records worth keeping
Nobody inspects them, but keep an attendance log, curriculum list, samples of work and a transcript for high school years. It matters later for college, dual credit and scholarships.
You don't need to teach everything
Co-ops, tutors, online courses and community classes cover what you'd rather not. That's exactly the gap our co-op fills — enrichment, socialization and hands-on learning.
Budget realistically
Curriculum, supplies and field trips add up. Our resale shop, Kids Club Closet and free co-op programming exist so cost never decides whether a kid gets enrichment.
Socialization is a schedule, not a worry
Weekly co-op day, field trips, sports skills contests, service projects and performance programs give kids consistent time with peers — with adults who know their names.

Most churches sit empty Monday through Friday. We bring the staff, the curriculum, the insurance conversation and the families. You bring the rooms. It's the fastest way to put a homeschool co-op in a North Texas community.
You provide space
Classrooms or a fellowship hall for one weekday, plus restrooms and parking.
We provide the program
Trained leaders, background-checked volunteers, curriculum, supplies and program calendar.
